upcoming events

Church is not where we go, it is what we do. Not just on Sundays, not just with other Kirk folks.

We engage our faith through conversation, service, community, and more.

If one or more of these events gives you energy, or pause come and join us! All are welcome!

  • Food Truck NIghts

Every summer we partner with our neighbors to host Food Trucks on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday at the Kirk thought out the summer. Our last food truck night for this summer will be on Tuesday, August 27 from 5:30-8 pm in the Kirk parking lot. We invite you to join us and our neighbors as we enjoy good food and get to know one another! We hope all of the Kirk will join us as we build community with each other and our neighbors.

The Kirk will be selling beer and wine in for $5. So that we don't violate our liquor license, we ask that you do not bring in your own alcohol and that all alcohol is consumed on our premises.

  • Theology on Tap

Every Sunday we gather for worship and follow a similar order and some of the same structures, songs and words are repeated. This is called our liturgy. At Theology on Tap in September we will be talking about the liturgy (literally the "public working" of our faith and the ways it can impact or carry through our daily lives. What would a lived liturgy look like? Is this something we aim for or is there something holy (set apart) for our gathering on Sunday mornings?

Theology on Tap will be September 8 from 4-6 p.m. at Brightmarten located at 730 South University. Childcare available at the Kirk.

  • Backpack Blessing

This month students, teachers, counselors, paras, and school staff will be returning to a new school year after the summer break. In preparation for all that this year will be, on Sunday, August 25 we will be “blessing backpacks” of all who spend their days in the school. Please have students and school staff bring backpacks to worship this day as we prepare and bless each one.

  • Women's Retreat: By the way of the heart

All those who identify as women of the Kirk are invited to a time of poetry, art, conversation, good food, games, nature, friendship and more. For the past three years we have gathered for to be enriched by the Spirit, by time away, and by one another. We will depart from the Kirk at 8 a.m., Saturday, September 21 and return home Sunday afternoon. The cost of this event is $60 for food and lodging and materials. You can register for this event here.

The poet Jan Richardson’s words will guide us once again as we, wise women gather. As she writes just to us and far beyond us:

          Wise women also came,
          and they went,
          as wise women always do,
          home a different way.

  • Blood Drive September 15

Did you know that 4.5 million Americans would die each year without life-saving blood transfusions. Approximately 32,000 pints of blood are used each day in the United States. Just one pint of donated blood can help save as many as three people's lives. Our next Vitalant Blood Drive is on Sunday, September 15 from 9 am-1 pm. To sign up for a time to donate, click here and use Site Code B110.

  • Animal Blessing: September 29

Sunday, September 29, join us for worship at 10 a.m. in the courtyard as we sing, pray, hear scripture and a sermon - and bless our animals.
