Worship in December
Advent at the Kirk

By now you have begun to hear the Christmas music that dominates the radio waves and every elevator and shopping mall in town. Some are about Santa and his reindeer but also we will hear songs straight out of our hymnal being played everywhere we go. Many folks know the first verses to these songs and love to sing along but the carols we sing are about more than nostalgia. They offer a theology of God and the impact of the Jesus’ birth into a world that was not expecting him or even welcoming him into its midst.

This Advent season we are going to wake up the Carols. Hear the stories of where they came from, hear their words anew, and allow the music to guide us toward Bethlehem. If you have friends who love Christmas music, this would be a great time to invite them to church as we wake up the carols together!

December 24: Candlelight Christmas Eve Service, O Holy Night, 5 p.m. Listen here.
December 24: Carols through the Ages, Choir Cantata, 10 a.m.
December 17: Joy to the World
After Worship we will share carols with our neighbors and return to the Kirk to enjoy some cookies. Listen here.

December 10: Children’s Christmas Play: Star Child
