Look What's Happening at the Kirk!

CONGRATULATIONS KIRK FAMILY OF FAITH!

At the Rocky Mountain Conference annual meeting in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the Kirk was honored for being the 11th largest per capita giver to OCWM (Our Church’s Wider Mission). This mission giving not only supports the important work of the Rocky Mountain conference but it is also the primary source of funding for the functioning of the national instrumentality of the UCC. Those two administrative, service, and missionary branches of our church provide indispensable services to our local church as well as the infrastructure to provide leadership for all our larger denomination’s witness of faith.

Spotlight on Mission

Tennyson Center for Children

“Stuff-the-Bus”

Tennyson Center for Children at Colorado Christian Home has grown to become one of the Rocky Mountain region's leading treatment centers and K-12 schools for emotionally and crisis-affected children and youth, particularly those suffering from abuse and neglect.  Tennyson Center serves children ranging in age from 5-18 and is dedicated to ensuring that these amazing kids have the fighting chance they deserve at a satisfying and fulfilling life.  A cornerstone of the Tennyson Center philosophy is to work with the parents and families of children served, helping moms and dads learn how to parent differently than what they experienced as children. In this way, positive changes occur within the family unit, thus helping to break the cycle of abuse.

In addition to the K-12 school, residential treatment, and day treatment provided on site, Tennyson Center offers in-home family preservation and stabilization services, a day treatment program within a Littleton elementary school, a 24-hour residential shelter program for adolescent boys ages 11-18, and other collaborative services throughout Colorado.

The Tennyson Center is currently running its annual  “Stuff-the-Bus” campaign to prepare for the coming school year.  While they currently have an overabundance of regular school supplies, art supplies and some ongoing disposable items are high needs.  Following (in the box) is what the Kirk will be collecting through August 10th.  Just look for the orange collection box in the narthex.
